September dares to pose itself
In Summer's path to all
The leaves that turn in golden mists,
As Autumn comes to call.
October, shot with streaking flames
Of red and gold and brown,
And lemon, too, in graceful flight-
The leaves come wafting down.
November, fringed with nipping cool,
For Fall is everywhere;
A quietude of gracious days-
Thanksgiving's in the air.
Then all of a sudden Winter blows,
The snows are piling high;
I think of Autumn's calming hush-
A season passes by.
